Where this all started

Welcome To The World Of Sideon's

What Is a Sideon?

Long before there was ever a sideon-vibe project, long before I thought of making a public journal,  before the website,  before the music, before any of what it is today, there was simply a story. Starting as a fantasy world I could close my eyes and escape into whenever I was tired of the world around me or dissatisfied with reality.

A Sideon is a fictional species from a science-fiction and fantasy world I've been developing since I was 15 years old. They are engineered beings, created in modern times from human and animal DNA and designed for a purpose they never chose for themselves. Several hundred years later, with their  Origin and truth of their species lost to time along with any and all modern technology, their existence raises questions about freedom, identity, survival, loyalty, and what it truly means to remain yourself in a world that constantly tries to define you.

But the Sideons are only one part of the story.

Over time, that original idea grew into something much larger—a world filled with characters, kingdoms, technology, conflict, history, mysteries, friendships, enemies, and stories that continue to evolve as I write them.

This page is where we go deeper.

Here you'll be able to explore the world behind the story and discover the characters who live within it. You'll find character profiles, artwork and images, pieces of the Sideon Codex, worldbuilding details, and sneak peeks into chapters as the story continues to take shape.

Some of what you'll find here will help explain the world.

Some of it may give you a glimpse of what's coming.

And some pieces may raise more questions than they answer.

That's part of the fun.

The Sideon universe is still being built, and this page will grow with it. New characters, new locations, new history, new artwork, and new pieces of the Codex will be added as the world continues to develop.

The books tell the story.

This is where you get to explore the world behind it.

So take a look around.

Meet the characters.

Open the Codex. (coming soon)

Explore the world.

And remember—this is only the beginning.

What Is a Sideon and where are they from?

The answer goes much deeper than most of your average  story characters.

Long before the world became medieval, before the Minix Empire, and before the history of the Sideons was hidden, humanity faced a problem that threatened the survival of the entire species.

Earth was dying.

Its ecosystems were collapsing, and humanity was searching for another world capable of supporting life. To explore unknown planets and survive environments that could be toxic, diseased, or otherwise deadly to humans, scientists created a new kind of body.

The Sideons.

Sideons are human-engineered hybrids, created by combining human DNA with that of various animal species. Their bodies were designed to be exceptionally tough, resilient, and adaptable. They possess powerful regenerative abilities, natural resistance to most diseases and poisons, and an immunity to many of the environmental hazards that could kill an ordinary human.

They also possess another extraordinary characteristic:

They do not age beyond physical maturity.

This made the Sideon body capable of surviving conditions that humans could not—and eventually made it something humans wanted for themselves.

The technology used to create the Sideons allowed human consciousness to be transferred into their bodies, giving humans the possibility of continuing their lives in a body that could remain physically mature indefinitely while possessing extraordinary healing and resistance.

But the Sideons were never created simply to become immortal bodies.

They were created to help humanity survive.

They were explorers.

They were designed to travel where humans could not, investigate unknown worlds, endure unfamiliar environments, and search for a new home after Earth could no longer sustain civilization.

And eventually, they found one.

The World That Was Supposed to Save Humanity

The planet they discovered was capable of supporting life.

It could become humanity's new home.

But by the time the explorers found it, Earth had already been lost.

With no surviving world to return to, the explorers were faced with a choice: rebuild civilization on this new planet—or risk repeating the mistakes that destroyed their original home.

They chose to rebuild.

But they didn't rebuild the world exactly as it had been.

Modern technology was gradually suppressed. Knowledge of humanity's true history was hidden. The story of where the Sideons came from was buried.

Generations passed.

Technology disappeared.

History became legend.

Eventually, the civilization that had created the Sideons became almost completely forgotten.

What emerged was a new world that looked medieval, despite being hundreds of years in humanity's future.

And controlling that world was the Minix Empire.

The Minix Empire believed that humanity's previous advancement had ultimately contributed to the destruction of Earth. To prevent history from repeating itself, the Empire suppresses advanced technology and controls the information people are allowed to learn about the past.

Progress is restricted.

History is rewritten.

And the truth becomes dangerous.

The Tragedy of the Sideons

The Sideons became one of the greatest victims of that forgotten history.

The people of this new world no longer understand what the Sideons truly are.

They don't know that they were engineered by humans.

They don't know why they were created.

They don't know that their bodies were once intended to help humanity explore the stars.

And most don't know that the technology behind what they call soul binding is connected to the same consciousness-transfer technology that created them.

The soul-binding ritual is not magic.

It is an incomplete consciousness transfer.

When performed in this way, the human consciousness does not transfer and leave the human body like originally designed. Instead, the broken or incomplete process forces that consciousness to overwhelm and imprint itself upon the consciousness of a Sideon.

The Sideon's own will is suppressed.

Their identity is buried beneath the imprint of their human master.

What remains is essentially a somewhat distorted copy of the master's consciousness occupying the Sideon's mind, making them subservient to their human counterpart with little personal desire or free will.

So basically the original human continues living in their own body, while having control over the sideon they bind with.

To the people of the present world, this is a ritual.

To those who understand the forgotten technology behind it, it is something far more disturbing.

It is a corrupted remnant of the technology that was once meant to save humanity.

And that is why Sideons are hunted, captured, enslaved, and sold.

Their bodies possess extraordinary abilities.

Their origins are connected to a history the Empire wants forgotten.

And the technology inside their very existence could reveal the truth about the world that came before.

The Sideons aren't simply creatures living in a medieval world.

They are survivors of a forgotten future.

Their bodies were created to help humanity find a new home.

Their history was erased to protect that home.

And now, generations later, the Sideons themselves may be the key to uncovering the truth as they fight for their freedom and equal rights.

Iren appears in book 1 off and on as a child setting him up as one of the main characters for book 2 he is one of the few characters that will follow the story until the last book. welcome to the 1st peek inside my sideon world.

Book 3 "The Marked" A Sneak Peek

Rough draft. Not final edit

Chapter One — The Last Light

It was late in the evening when Damon heard the wagon.

The last light of the setting sun was disappearing behind the trees, turning the sky beyond the farm into streaks of fading orange and red. Shadows stretched across the fields, swallowing the rows of harvested crops one patch at a time.

Damon was in the stable, tending to the horses.

He had just finished pouring feed into the last trough when the distant creak of wooden wheels reached his ears.

He stopped.

For a moment, he simply listened.

Then came the unmistakable rhythm of hooves.

His tail flicked behind him.

"About time."

Damon leaned the pitchfork against the wall and stepped outside.

The wagon came into view along the trail, pulled by two tired horses. Dust clung to the wheels and hung in the air behind them.

Harold sat at the reins.

Damon watched his father approach.

Even from a distance, something seemed wrong.

Harold's shoulders were lower than usual. His hands rested heavily on the reins, and the older man's head hung forward as though the journey home had taken more out of him than the distance alone could explain.

Damon walked toward the wagon.

"You're late."

Harold looked up.

"Long day."

Damon reached for the reins.

"What happened?"

"Nothing."

The answer came too quickly.

Damon raised an eyebrow.

Harold climbed down from the wagon.

"Get the horses unhooked and into the stable."

"Where's the fire?"

Harold looked toward the house.

"Coming."

Damon watched him walk away.

Something about his father's voice made the joke die before Damon could make another one.

He turned back toward the horses.

By the time Damon had finished unhitching them, Harold was already inside.

Damon led the horses into the stable, secured them, and gave them fresh water. Then he looked toward the house.

The light from the windows flickered against the darkness.

He sighed.

Whatever had happened in town, his father clearly wasn't going to volunteer the answer.

Damon headed inside.

Harold was sitting at the dining table.

A bottle of liquor stood in front of him.

Damon stopped in the doorway.

"You already started?"

Harold didn't answer.

He pulled the cork free.

The sharp pop echoed through the small room.

He raised the bottle and drank deeply.

When he finally lowered it, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.

Damon took the chair across from him.

Harold stared at the bottle.

For several seconds, neither spoke.

Then Harold pushed it across the table.

Damon shook his head.

"No."

Harold took another drink.

"Suit yourself."

The silence returned.

Damon could feel something weighing on his father. It wasn't the usual exhaustion that came from working the farm or traveling into town.

This was different.

"What happened today?"

Harold's fingers tightened around the bottle.

"The market."

Damon waited.

"I was meeting with Margit to sell what was left of the crops."

Harold took another drink.

"Those men were there."

Damon frowned.

"What men?"

Harold looked at him.

"The slave traders."

Damon's expression changed.

Harold lowered his eyes.

"They recognized me."

"Recognized you from where?"

Harold didn't answer immediately.

His eyes remained fixed on the bottle.

"They're the ones I bought you from."

The words settled heavily between them.

Damon stared at his father.

Harold continued before he could respond.

"They started asking questions. Wanted to know where you were."

"What did you tell them?"

Harold's jaw tightened.

"I told them I'd sold you years ago."

Damon blinked.

"What?"

"I told them I had to sell you to pay the taxes on the farm."

Harold gave a bitter laugh.

"A farm I don't even have anymore."

Damon leaned forward.

"And they believed that?"

"No."

Harold's answer was immediate.

"They knew I was lying."

He took another drink.

"They remember selling you to me. They remember exactly what you looked like."

Damon's eyes narrowed.

"Then why would they believe I was gone?"

"They wouldn't."

Harold slammed the bottle onto the table.

"That's the problem."

The bottle rattled against the wood.

"They know I kept you."

Damon sat silently.

Harold rubbed both hands over his face.

"They asked too many questions. Where you were. Why you weren't with me. Why you hadn't been soul-bound."

Damon's expression hardened.

"And what did you tell them?"

Harold looked up.

"I told them you were gone."

"That's not what I asked."

Harold stared at him.

"I told them what I needed to tell them."

Damon leaned back in his chair.

"Why?"

Harold's eyes shifted toward the window.

"Because if they find out you're still here..."

He stopped.

Damon waited.

"Then what?"

Harold looked back at him.

"They'll come looking."

The room seemed to grow smaller.

Damon glanced toward the dark window.

"Why would they care about me after all these years?"

Harold didn't answer.

Instead, his hand disappeared beneath his coat.

When it emerged, he was holding something in his palm.

A bracelet.

Damon stared at it.

It was simple at first glance, but the closer he looked, the stranger it became.

A finely made band surrounded a small pendant at its center. The pendant was dark and smooth, almost like polished stone, with tiny details worked into its surface that Damon couldn't quite make sense of.

Harold held it out.

"This belonged to your mother."

Damon didn't immediately take it.

"My mother?"

Harold nodded.

"She told me to give it to you when you were old enough."

Damon looked from the bracelet to his father.

"You've had this all this time?"

"Yes."

"Why didn't you give it to me before?"

Harold's eyes dropped.

"I should have."

There was something in his voice that made Damon stop asking questions.

Harold extended his hand farther.

"Take it."

Damon finally did.

The bracelet was surprisingly warm.

He turned it over in his fingers.

"What is it?"

"I don't know."

Damon looked at him.

"You don't know?"

"Not exactly."

Harold rubbed his forehead.

"Your mother said it was important. Maybe a family heirloom. Maybe something more."

Damon examined the pendant.

Tiny lines crossed its surface, too precise to be decoration.

Harold continued.

"She wanted you to have it once you came of age."

Damon looked up.

"Why?"

Harold hesitated.

"Because she knew there might come a day when you would need it."

The answer only raised more questions.

Damon slipped the bracelet around his wrist.

The moment the clasp closed, a strange sensation crawled up his arm.

He frowned.

"Did you feel that?"

Harold's expression changed.

"Feel what?"

Damon looked at the bracelet.

"Nothing."

He turned his wrist, examining it beneath the dim light.

Then—

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Both men froze.

The sound came from the front door.

Harold's face went pale.

Damon stood.

Another knock.

Harder this time.

Harold immediately raised a finger to his lips.

"Up."

"What?"

"The rafters."

Damon didn't question him.

He moved quickly.

His claws caught the wooden beam and he pulled himself upward, disappearing into the darkness above the room.

Harold remained below.

Another knock sounded.

Then silence.

Damon crouched among the rafters, barely breathing.

He could see his father standing beneath him.

Harold looked toward the door.

Then toward the window.

His hand moved toward the knife at his side.

Damon watched.

Something wasn't right.

And then he heard it.

A voice.

Not from downstairs.

Not from outside.

Inside his head.

"Run."

Damon's eyes widened.

He spun around.

Nothing.

The rafters were empty.

His breathing quickened.

"Who's there?"

No answer.

His hand went to his knife.

He pulled it free.

The blade flashed through the darkness as he slashed at the empty air.

Nothing.

He stared into the shadows.

Then the voice came again.

Closer this time.

"They're getting closer."

Damon froze.

The bracelet on his wrist felt warm.

"Run!"

Damon looked toward the window.

Torchlight flickered between the trees.

One.

Then another.

Then several more.

Someone was coming up the trail.

Damon's heart slammed against his chest.

He jumped from the rafters.

He landed hard enough to rattle the floorboards.

A startled gasp came from the doorway.

A young woman stood there.

Red hair framed her frightened face.

Jenna.

She stared at Damon.

"What the—?"

Damon didn't answer.

He looked past her toward the window.

The torchlights were getting closer.

His father shouted something, but Damon barely heard him.

The voice inside his head returned.

"Run."

Damon turned.

The back door was only a few steps away.

He sprinted.

He threw it open and disappeared into the darkness beyond the house.

Behind him came the sound of shouting.

Then footsteps.

And somewhere inside his mind, beneath the pounding of his own heartbeat, the strange voice whispered once more—

"Keep running."

Damon vanished into the woods.

Chapter 2 coming soon please check in every now and then to see what else I may have published.

Side note I haven't decided on the names of the books or the chapters yet the current names are just placeholders if you have any suggestions email me through my contact page or message me on Facebook and I'll consider your suggestions.

What to expect from this page moving forward

What my intentions are,

I'm obviously going to keep publishing more chapters and character designs along with backstories and the world lure, all of that will come in time as I go through my old content and produce new. One thing I intend to do with this page is use it to publish new chapters as placeholders for fresh content as i revist old works. But as I post new chapters I'll take old ones down so that this page doesn't get too full with only text. I'll only keep one to three of my newest chapters up on this page with the rest of the chapters being in their own individual blog articles for the sake of space and convenience.

The Codex,  I'll be publishing it here first and eventually giving it its own page as it grows with fresh sujects and art work being displayed here and both new and old parts being housed on a separate web page all together just for the Codex.

I'll also be displaying images of some of my original writings for the novel on this page.  that's going to be hard for me because I'm embarrassed about my writing skills or lack there of. Particularly my spelling.  but fuck it this project is an online Journal and if you can't be open and honest in your own journal then where the hell can you be?
